Things are starting to get more and more real as my Sept. 1st departure date comes closer and closer. The last step is to hand in my tourist visa application to the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Chicago, then wait for two nauseating days to receive either a confirmation or denial of my visa application. I am confidant my application will be approved, except for one thing: they know I am planning on staying for four months, so I am expecting to get the two renewals I will need for the last two months… cross your fingers for me.
The response in donations and general support has been overwhelming 🙂 The people in my life have been so generous with their time, resources, and encouragement. I am happy to say that the funds have risen above the 3/4 marker, so it’s down to the last portion of funds!! I am confident my goal will be reached and very excited for the opportunities that lie before me…
I say “me,” but I really feel like it should be, “us”. I would never be able to go on this journey if it weren’t for my friends and family supporting me. Because of others, I am able to travel overseas. Because of others, I am able to experience a whole new culture. Because of others, I am able to be transplanted for a time to learn more about who God is and what He wants me to do with this art therapy thing. So, even though my supports won’t physically be with me, I will still feel like they are.
It is my wish/goal that my supporters feel likewise; that they are on this journey to Thailand with me. I will be updating this blog weekly and sending out monthly updates through email (please contact me if you’re not receiving email updates after Sept. 1st and would like to!). Within these connections, I hope to send photos and stories that give the reader a sense of what it is like to live where and how I will be living. I addition, I truly encourage questions about my life in Thailand, the Thai culture, the travel process, etc.
Well, I’m off to help Mom and Lydia get dinner ready, I smell tacos… It’s good to be home for a while before I leave 😉
